Consular Services from June 26, 2020
As Illinois, where this office is located, will enter the fourth phase of its five-phase “Restore Illinois” plan on June 26th, the consular services of this office will be operating within regular business hours starting on June 26th. The hours will be from Monday to Friday between 9am and 4:30pm.
We continue to encourage you to apply by mail unless it is necessary for you to apply in person. You are advised to contact our office by phone at +1(312) 616-0100 or by email at chi@mofa.gov.tw before submitting your applications by mail. If we cannot respond to you immediately due to high call volume, we will get back to you as soon as we can.
In order to observe necessary precautionary measures and reduce the risks of being infected; you are required to wear masks or face coverings at all times inside this office. Please practice social distancing and utilize hand sanitizer placed at the entrance of the Consular Division. The restrooms will be closed to the public during this period, and we apologize for the inconvenience.
For emergencies such as a life-threatening event involving Taiwanese, please contact our emergency number for our nationals at +1(312) 636-4758. Please be advised that we do not respond to inquiries for regular consular services through this number.
