Governor of Guam Hon. Lourdes A. Leon Guerrero and Show-Yen Lu, Mayor of Taichung City of ROC (Taiwan), signed the Guam-Taichung Sister City Agreement in a virtual meeting held on the morning of Feb. 23, 2022

Through TECO in Guam’s coordination, the Governor of Guam Hon. Lourdes A. Leon Guerrero and Show-Yen Lu, Mayor of Taichung City of ROC (Taiwan), signed the Guam-Taichung Sister City Agreement in a virtual meeting held on the morning of Feb. 23, 2022. The meeting’s attendees included, on Guam’s side, the Governor of Guam and Felix Yen, Guam Affairs Director of Guam Taiwan Office. The attendees on Taichung’s side included Taichung City Mayor Lu, Deputy Mayor Bruce Lingu, Secretariat Director General Nai-Lun Yen, Health Bureau Director General Tzu-Chan Tseng, Transportation Bureau Director General Chao-Fu Yeh, of the Taichung City Government, China Medical University Hospital Superintendent Der-Yang Cho, Taichung International Airport Director Jui-Shu Chang and the work team from the Taichung City Government. The invited guests who were present to witness the ceremony included Director General of MOFA North American Affairs Department Douglas Yu-Tien Hsu, TECO in Guam Director General Paul Chen accompanied by Director Stephen Hsu and all the TECO staff, Chairman of China Medical University & Health Care System Chang-Hai Tsai, Consul General of the Republic of Palau in Guam Adelina “Enna” K. Jose, Italy Honorary Consul General in Guam Roberto Fracassini, Lily Yu, Senior Advisor in Guam of the Overseas Community Affairs Council of ROC (Taiwan), Anna Kao, President of the Taiwanese Business Association of Guam, Albert Wu, President of the United Chinese Association of Guam as well as several Taiwanese Community leaders with the OCAC Honorary Positions. The Governor in her address expressed her appreciation and great pleasure in regards to signing the Sister City Agreement with Mayor Lu. Mayor Lu in her address sincerely invited the Governor to visit Taiwan and meet with her after the pandemic is over. During the meeting, the Governor and Mayor Lu signed the Guam-Taichung Sister City Agreement virtually on each side, presented gifts to each other afterwards and finally took group pictures together with the invited guests. Besides, a celebration tea party was held by TECO following the ceremony, putting an end to this meaningful and successful event. (E)
