A. Scholarship Details:
1. 12 scholarship places are available to students seeking to attend the Summer/Summer Intensive Session (full-time program); 11 scholarship places are available to students seeking Autumn Session (full-time program).
2. A stipend totaling NT$15,000 will be awarded to successful applicants over the duration of the Summer/Summer Intensive Session; a stipend totaling NT$20,000 will be awarded to successful applicants over the duration of the Autumn Session.
3. Scholarship period: 2014 Summer Session (June 30~September 5); Summer Intensive Session (June 30~July 25/August 4~August 29); 2014 Autumn Session (September 22~December 5)
B. Eligibility Requirements:
1. Applicants must not hold ROC citizenship and must be able to supply recommendations from at least two university professors, Chinese language lecturers or supervisors/employers.
2. Applicants may apply for one session only.
3. Students already in receipt of scholarship funding from any institution within Taiwan (ROC) are ineligible to apply.
4. Preference will be given to first-time applicants.
C. Application Requirements:
1. Two letters of recommendation from the applicant’s university professors, Chinese language lecturers, or supervisors/employers.
2. One study plan of no more than 1,000 words, stating applicant’s intended session.
Additional Information:
1. Application deadline: Thursday May 15, 2014 (Summer/Summer Intensive Session) or; Wednesday July 30, 2014 (Autumn Session). Applications received after the applicable deadline will not be accepted.
2. Stipends will be distributed on a monthly basis to recipients. Summer Session recipients will receive a monthly stipend of NT$7,500 for 2 months; Summer Intensive Session recipients will receive a one off stipend of NT$15,000; Autumn Session recipients will receive a monthly stipend of NT$10,000 for 2 months.
Conditions for the Withholding or Revocation of Scholarships:
1. One month’s stipend will be withheld if the student is absent for more than 12 hours in that month without sufficient cause.
2. Scholarships shall be revoked if the student:
- is absent for more than one sixth of classes;
- behaves inappropriately during class;
- discontinues studying.
3. If a scholarship is withheld or revoked, the remaining portion will be awarded to the runners-up.
