(Houston, TX, November 3, 2025) – Taiwanese twin percussionists Jen-Ting Chien and Jen-Yu Chien, collectively known as Twincussion, will embark on their 2025 U.S. concert tour beginning November 19 at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi, with subsequent performance at the Asia Society Texas Center in Houston on November 21. The tour highlights an East-meets-West repertoire that bridges Western classical music with Taiwanese folk traditions, offering audiences a fresh and dynamic soundscape shaped by rhythm, harmony, and twin synergy.
About the Artists
Born and based in Taiwan, Jen-Ting and Jen-Yu Chien earned the prestigious Soloist Diploma (Advanced Postgraduate) from the Royal Danish Academy of Music. Known for their perfect synchronization and innovative programming, Twincussion was selected by the U.S. Department of State as a Center Stage Season 6 ensemble in 2023, performing at the John F. Kennedy Center to standing ovations. Their elegant stagecraft and nuanced technique were lauded by Danish classical media Klassisk as “a graceful dialogue of precision and expression.”
Twincussion also won the Golden Melody Award for Traditional Arts – Best Arrangement in 2023 and has collaborated with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, EVA Symphony Orchestra, and Mexican conductor Alondra de la Parra. In 2024, they performed at Le Champs Libres, France, toured Japan and Taiwan with Marimba Twins, and collaborated with the Taipei Chinese Orchestra and Evergreen Symphony Orchestra.
Tour Program Highlights
Their U.S. tour program reflects a sophisticated blend of world percussion traditions and Taiwanese musical identity. Highlights include:
- Taiwanese folk melodies “Dark Sky (Tian Hei Hei)” and “Longing for the Spring Breeze (Wang Chun Feng),” newly arranged by composer Yi-Chih Lu for marimba and percussion.
- Wayne Siegel’s 42nd Street Rondo, reimagined with the street pulse of Taipei’s Ximending—connecting New York and Taipei’s vibrant urban rhythms.
- Handel’s Passacaglia, Tomasz Goliński’s Layered Elements, and Minoru Miki’s Marimba Spiritual II, all showcasing the duo’s exceptional control of tone and texture.
Through their versatile command of marimba, drums, gongs, and digital soundscapes, Twincussion’s performances embody the creative dialogue between East and West, tradition and innovation.
