Director-General Yi-Fang Yvonne Hsiao was delighted to join OK Governor Kevin Stitt, Senator Roland Pederson, and Rep. Daniel Pae at the Oklahoma State Capitol on June 30 for the opening celebration for Oklahoma's new trade office in Taipei.
In her remarks, DG Hsiao expressed sincere gratitude to Governor Stitt and his team, Sen. Pederson and Rep. Pae. She also mentioned several indicators reflecting the strong economic partnership between Taiwan and the United States: Taiwan's pledge of 250 billion dollars in direct investment, and another 250 billion in credit guarantee into the US, Taiwan's ascension to fourth-largest trading partner of the US, and a joint letter put out recently by the US Departments of State, Commerce, and Agriculture to governors and business leaders inviting them to strengthen their ties in trade, investment, tourism, education, disaster mitigation and etc. with Taiwan.
She also spoke on how Oklahoma's Taiwan Regional Trade Office is "both fruit born from years of cooperation between Oklahoma and Taiwan as well as a seed which will invigorate and extend our exchanges into the future.
As Rep Daniel Pae said, the best days of the TW-OK partnership are still ahead.
Governor Stitt's historic visit to Taiwan in 2024 set the stage for this trade office and its opening is a major milestone in TW-OK ties. Many thanks to our friends in Oklahoma for supporting Taiwan and a strong TW-OK partnership!
