The skies over Phoenix are welcoming more and more passenger jets from Taiwan.
On his 5th day in office, Director General Jason Ma met with Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego. Beyond a warm reunion of old friends, the meeting highlighted the increasingly tight-knit "living sphere" between Taiwan?? and America’s 5th largest city.
They discussed some thrilling recent developments: China Airlines and Starlux Airlines launching direct flights, making the trip home shorter than ever; Din Tai Fung expanding to the Greater Phoenix area, satisfying everyone's craving for a taste of home; and to welcome Taiwan's high-tech supply chains, the city has even adeptly adopted the metric system to create a more investment-friendly environment!
Today, Greater Phoenix is not just a tech powerhouse, but a place with a strong "Taiwanese vibe." Mayor Gallego enthusiastically shared that the distance between us has never been closer. For four consecutive years, Phoenix has co-hosted massive Double Ten National Day celebrations with Arizona State University (ASU). Furthermore, starting this year, students from Taiwan’s National Chengchi University (NCCU) will begin interning at the Phoenix City Government.
As a proud NCCU alumnus, DG Ma playfully lamented that he had "aged out" of the internship eligibility, but he expressed his deepest gratitude to Mayor Gallego for offering such an incredible opportunity to his fellow schoolmates.
It is exactly this kind of substantive cooperation and genuine friendship that makes Taiwan ??and the U.S. ??true like-minded partners.
Taiwan and Phoenix are writing a wonderful, win-win story together!
