The Greater Los Angeles area is not only a second home to countless expats and Taiwanese businesses, but also the most solid grassroots fortress for U.S.-Taiwan relations.
To further deepen our services for the Southern California community, Director General Jason Ma recently met with U.S. Representative Judy Chu (D-CA), a steadfast supporter of Taiwan. With Rep. Chu’s district encompassing the San Gabriel Valley—a vibrant hub for our diaspora—we had an in-depth and substantive discussion on enhancing the rights of local Taiwanese businesses and optimizing community services.
Beyond community care, the two sides engaged in profound discussions on the shared values and mutual interests between Taiwan and the U.S. Having served in Washington D.C. for many years, DG Ma expressed his special gratitude for Rep. Chu’s critical role in various pro-Taiwan initiatives in Congress. Facing multiple geopolitical and economic challenges, Taiwan will continue to respond with immense resilience. The bipartisan support of the U.S. Congress, especially from true friends like Rep. Chu who continuously advocate for U.S.-Taiwan relations, remains our most vital ally in defending democratic values.
From serving the local diaspora to defending shared values and mutual interests, Taiwan will continue to work closely with our American friends. We are committed to translating our profound friendship into a solid force that enhances the well-being of our peoples and pushes back against authoritarian expansion.
