Under the bright Phoenix sun, we are not only discussing tech investments but also forging the deepest bonds through heartwarming Taiwanese cuisine.
On May 1st, the "International Tour of Taiwan Gourmet Cuisines" featured two incredible chefs from Taiwan, Te-Chung Fan and Chih-Lung Lee. Through a series of familiar and comforting Taiwanese dishes, the event profoundly connected U.S.-Taiwan culture and language.
This event did more than just serve up a taste of home; it showcased Taiwan’s deep-rooted influence in the region. Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego, along with Arizona State Senators Frank Carroll and John Kavanagh, attended in person to show their support. In her remarks, Mayor Gallego emphasized that the partnership between Phoenix and Taiwan is growing closer than ever before.
Echoing Mayor Gallego, TECO in Los Angeles Director General Jason Ma highlighted the "dual connection" between the Mayor's itinerary and Taiwan that day. Earlier that same day, an economic delegation from Taiwan also engaged in a substantial economic and trade dialogue with Mayor Gallego. This perfectly demonstrates that the ties between Taiwan and Phoenix are built not only on personal affection but also on substantive mutual benefit.
DG Ma shared with the distinguished guests: "There is no better way to celebrate our solid friendship than by sharing the comfort food of our hometown with good friends." From supply chain dialogues to authentic Taiwanese culinary exchanges, Taiwan is comprehensively deepening its connections with Arizona.
This successful grassroots diplomacy owes much to its behind-the-scenes drivers.
Special thanks to OCAC Commissioner Ruey Yu and OCAC Adviser Yuh-Ping Yen for their unwavering support, as well as our two chefs from Taiwan. With their exquisite culinary skills, the chefs condensed Taiwan's emotions and memories into every dish, leaving the American officials and Taiwanese expats with an unforgettable taste.
May this strength and warmth from Taiwan continue to resonate around the world.
