In Southern California, every business built from the ground up and steadily grown by Taiwanese Americans serves as a solid cornerstone for the robust U.S.-Taiwan relationship.
Recently, the business co-founded by Kevin Yeh, President of the Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce in Orange County (TCCOC), and his wife, Sophia Chen, celebrated a new milestone with its expansion in Tustin. Director General Jason Ma and Mrs. Anne Yang specifically attended to offer their congratulations. They were joined by U.S. Representative Young Kim (R-CA), Yorba Linda Mayor Pro Tem Peggy Huang, and Irvine City Councilmember Melinda Liu. Their presence was not only a gesture of congratulation to President Yeh and his wife but also a strong reflection of the high value and support the U.S. political mainstream places on the economic contributions of the Taiwanese business community.
The most heartwarming moment of the event came when Mrs. Sophia Chen smiled and shared a touching detail: it took President Yeh 15 years of pursuit before they finally tied the knot. Following that, they spent another 15 years in the United States??, building their business from the ground up to its current scale. Deeply moved by this "15 plus 15" story intertwining romance and resilience, the local elected officials offered their warmest blessings for countless more 15-year chapters to come. They also unanimously praised the couple for deeply engaging with the community through professionalism and integrity, calling them outstanding role models for Asian American entrepreneurs.
In the diplomatic arena, we constantly strive to build "resilient partnerships." In the countless outstanding Taiwanese expatriate businesses, we see the most touching and concrete practice of this very concept. For Taiwanese entrepreneurs abroad, aside from their own hard work, what is even more important is walking alongside the local community, gradually laying a foundation of trust and mutual understanding through sincerity and service.
Rep. Young Kim also took the opportunity to share recent congressional policies aimed at supporting small businesses through tax relief and talent development. Taiwanese Americans striving in the U.S. not only create jobs and prosperity but are also a vital force advocating for a sound and supportive business environment.
The story of President Kevin Yeh and Mrs. Sophia Chen is a microcosm of the countless Taiwanese Americans working tirelessly for their dreams in the United States. Thank you to all the Taiwanese entrepreneurs working diligently overseas; your success is the brightest signboard of the ??Taiwan spirit on the international stage.
