"Taiwan and the U.S. share some very impressive tourism statistics, but frankly, no matter how beautiful the numbers are, they cannot fully capture the true magic of Taiwan."
At the 2026 Taiwan Tourism Workshop held recently in Marina del Rey, Director General Jason Ma addressed nearly 70 top Southern California travel industry professionals, sharing the authentic charm of Taiwan tourism with the utmost sincerity.
When American travelers ask, "Why travel to Taiwan?", DG Ma offered the perfect pitch: "You can tell them about a place where they can safely walk the streets at 2 AM to grab a bowl of world-class beef noodle soup. You can hike breathtaking alpine mountains in the morning, sip an incredible artisan espresso in the afternoon, and then step into the best night market in the world in the evening. Taiwan is the perfect combination of profound Asian cultural heritage and an incredibly modern, safe, and welcoming society."
Highlighting the workshop's theme, "Taiwan Never Sleeps," attendees were invited to experience this charm firsthand. Guided by the wonderful host Ming-chu Chen, the event featured a spectacular crossover performance by the Taiwanese Opera troupe 2003 Studio2, and an exquisite tea-tasting experience led by Cha San Dai from Alishan.
With weekly direct flights between Taiwan and the U.S. officially exceeding 200, DG Ma shared a relatable observation with the American operators: "The number of flights between North America and Taiwan is now much higher than many domestic routes within the U.S. When it comes to travel, Taiwan and the U.S. are practically neighbors!"
Director Vivian Lin of the Tourism Division also took the opportunity to strongly promote upcoming incentive programs, such as the "Extra Incentives for Returning International Visitors" launching on October 10, inviting more North American travelers to safely explore the uniquely brilliant day and night facets of Taiwan.
A massive thank you to all our enthusiastic airline and travel agency partners. Taiwan has already opened its arms and is ready to welcome North American travelers to discover this amazing island that never sleeps!
