The "2021 Taiwan Lantern Festival" is co-sponsored by the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and the Hsinchu City Government. Due to the recent coronavirus outbreak in Taiwan, Taiwan’s Premier Su Cheng-chang convened an inter-ministerial meeting on Jan. 19.
In accordance with Taiwan's Central Epidemic Command Center advisory, taking into account the new development of the epidemic, and considering the opinion of the Hsinchu City Government, the Tourism Bureau has decided to cancel the 2021 Taiwan Lantern Festival.
In face of the severe global pandemic, Taiwan’s ability to fight the Pandemic and maintain its current situation, is the result of the efforts of the people. Canceling the lantern festival was a difficult decision, but Pandemic prevention is the Government’s top priority. We look forward to the support and understanding of all sectors of society.
