On May 4, Director General Chou was invited to attend the Bathing the Buddha Ceremony organized by Guang Ming Temple and the Buddha’s Light International Association (#BLIA) in Greater Orlando.
The ceremony was attended by several distinguished guests, including Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings, Deputy Mayor Mike Scott, Florida State Representatives Rita Harris and Anna Eskamani, Florida Commission on Ethics member Linda Stewart, Overseas Community Affairs Councilor Gloria Chu, President of the Greater Orlando Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce Liling Li, and many local interfaith leaders.
Director General Chou expressed his appreciation to Venerable Ru Yuan and the monastics of Guang Ming Temple for their dedication to the Buddha’s compassion and love, and for their efforts in promoting cultural and educational development while fostering community harmony. He also acknowledged their commitment to implementing Humanistic Buddhism, as taught by Venerable Master Hsing Yun, in Central Florida.
The ceremony was held with great solemnity and joy, and attendees were treated to exquisite Taiwanese vegetarian cuisine and an inspiring Taiko drum performance.
