Director General Chou met with Mayor Dean Trantalis of the City of Fort Lauderdale.
Known as the "Venice of America," Fort Lauderdale is a beautiful coastal city with 165 miles of canals weaving through it. In Taiwan, the city is a household name due to its history of hosting the Big League World Series from the 1970s to 1998, in which Taiwan's baseball team competed and won 17 championships. For many Taiwanese people, the city holds many fond memories.
Additionally, in 2008, the City of Fort Lauderdale entered into a sister-city relationship with Kaohsiung, and this year marks the 15th anniversary of this partnership. During the meeting, Mayor Trantalis expressed his desire to continue strengthening the relationship with Kaohsiung, and Director General Chou responded that our office will do our best to keep this promise.
