Director General Chou, accompanied by Consul Claire Chen and Vice Consul Alice Chu, was invited by the Museum of Discovery and Science and President Russell Weaver of Greater Fort Lauderdale Sister City International to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the museum. The event celebrated the City of Fort Lauderdale's declaration of May as Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and Director General Chou gave a speech.
The museum extended invitations to several Asian and Pacific Islander countries, including Taiwan, to present their cultures at stands set up in the museum. Our office was thrilled to participate in the event by showcasing Taiwan's soft power. We exhibited beautiful orchids, provided information on Taiwan’s culture and tourism, shared details about Taiwan's bid to participate in the World Health Organization, and distributed brochures and flyers. In addition, we offered samples of Taiwan's delicious Oolong tea for tasting. Many Fort Lauderdale residents expressed keen interest in learning more about our beautiful island and the sister-city relationship between Fort Lauderdale and Kaohsiung.
Overall, it was a pleasure to be part of this celebration, and we would like to thank Discovery and Science and President Weaver for inviting us to showcase Taiwan's rich culture and heritage.
