The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York is pleased to announce that Taiwanese artist Charwei Tsai’s artworks will be featured in “The Power of Intention: Reinventing the (Prayer) Wheel” at the Rubin Museum of Art from March 1 through October 14, 2019.
The exhibition draws inspiration from the Tibetan prayer wheel and takes this ritual object as a “metaphor for the power to create positive change.” It brings together select examples of traditional and contemporary art to “illuminate the relationship between our intentions, commitments, and actions.”
Tsai’s featured works include A Supplication, a water color drawing on rice paper, depicting the Guru Rinpoche mantra dispersing into space from a seed syllable at the center, and Spiral Incense with Mantras which consists of three large spiral incense pieces inscribed with the Guru Rinpoche mantra. As part of her work, Tsai will perform writing the mantra on the incense before it’s hung in the gallery on March 1 at 3 pm at the museum.
