The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York is pleased to announce that Vincent Hsu and Soy La Ley Afro-Cuban Jazz Band is coming to New York and Connecticut as part of its US tour of “Hola Pops!—The Latin Side of Louis Armstrong” on September 11 and September 21, respectively.
Formed in 2010, Vincent Hsu and Soy La Ley Afro-Cuban Jazz Band plays with the unpredictability of jazz improvisation through Afro-Cuban rhythms infused with Taiwanese compositional elements, bringing together three distinct cultures to create a soundscape with vivid storytelling.
“Hola Pops!” is a project inspired by the legacy of Louis Armstrong. During its tour, the band will trace the footsteps of the musician in New Orleans, New York, and Chicago. In each city, the band will share stage with local musicians to bridge cultures and explore new musical possibilities.
