Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Seattle holds 108th National Day Reception at Seattle Sheraton on the evening of October 3, hosted by Director General and Mrs. Alex Fan.
In Director General Fan’s remarks, he introduces the recent developments of Taiwan and the U.S. relations, including President Tsai’s transit in the U.S., several acts and bills supporting Taiwan have passed in the U.S. Congress, as well as arms sales of F16V fighter jets and M1A2 tanks. He also addresses some achievements of the bilateral trade and economic partnership, such as the 2019 Taiwan Agricultural Goodwill Mission visited 11 States and signed letter of intent with local private sectors. The U.S. Global Cooperation and Training Framework in the fields of humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, climate change, and environmental protection was also mentioned. Director General Fan stresses that though Taiwan faces tremendous challenges like China’s suppression, Taiwanese people will remain firm in upholding the core values of democracy and freedom.
TECO in Seattle also invites local companies and organizations that are related to Taiwan to showcase their connection with the U.S. northwest, including China Airlines, Eva Airlines, AIDC, Da-Li, Tzu Chi, Luly Yang, CC Fine Tea, CIE and VOXA. Guests can also enjoy Taiwanese dumplings from Din Tai Fung Restaurant as well as Kavalan Whiskey from Taiwan.
Washington State Representative Cindy Ryu, Senator Keith Wagoner, Senior Deputy Mayor Michael Fong, Consular Association of Washington along with consular corps from many countries, and Federal, State, County and City government officials also join the event with overseas Taiwanese and Chinese community.
