The Taiwan Fellowship 2021 will be accepting applications from May 1 to June 30, 2020.
MOFA Taiwan Fellowship is established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) to award foreign experts and scholars interested in researches related to Taiwan, cross-strait relations, Asia-Pacific region and Sinology to conduct advanced research at universities or academic institutions in Taiwan.
Research topics related to Taiwan’s participation in regional economic mechanism, New Southbound Policy, Asia-Pacific regional security, combating disinformation (fake news) and gender studies are highly welcomed.
The duration of a fellowship is between three months and one year. The Fellowship must be completed between January and December 2021.
Eligibility
Recipients shall be foreign nationals working as professors, associate professors, assistant professors, post-doctoral researchers, doctoral candidates, or doctoral program students at related departments of overseas universities, or research fellows at an equivalent level in academic institutions abroad.

Deadline: June 30, 2020
The application opens from May 1 to June 30, 2020. Applicants whose universities or affiliated institutes are based in Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Wyoming, Montana, Alaska should send their applications to this office. Shortlisted candidates will be notified in October 2020.

Step 2 - Mail-in:
- Application Form (Please print the completed online application form).
- Resume (including publication list).
- Research proposal (three pages in principle using a standard research format).
- Two letters of recommendation or one letter of recommendation and one letter of consent from the highest administrator of the applicant’s affiliated institute.

Financial assistance : Monthly grants are paid at the beginning of every month.
- Professors, associate professors, research fellows, or associate research fellows: NT$60,000.
- Assistant professors, assistant research fellows, or doctoral candidates: NT$50,000.
- One round-trip, economy-class ticket for the most direct route to Taiwan (The subsidy will be decided by MOFA in accordance with the relevant regulations).
- Accident insurance (plus a medical insurance for accidental injuries) coverage of NT$1 million.
