On April 23, Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon posted on the Facebook page and twitter to express his appreciation to Taiwan for the donation of 50,000 medical face masks. “We will be distributing those masks soon to where they are needed most. We thank the people of Taiwan for their support of Wyoming as we respond to COVID-19 and protect lives while easing restrictions on businesses.”
Governor Gordon has emphasized many times that the shortage of PPE and test kits have increased the burden of Wyoming’s medical professionals when dealing with the pandemic. Taiwan understands that the disease knows no borders and would take its part by delivering medical masks to echo Governor Gordon’s requests for donation. The face masks are delivered to the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security and will be distributed to medical personnel.
Taiwan and Wyoming share a long history of friendship and cooperation. For facilitating the donation process, the 50K medical masks are made in and directly shipped from Taiwan. This is also the first time that the Cowboy State has received a donation of medical masks directly from a foreign government. Taiwan cherishes its partnership with the State of Wyoming and joins hands with Wyomingite through this challenge. Taiwan can help and Taiwan is helping! We urge that Taiwan should not be excluded from the WHO and more partners and countries can continue to strengthen their support of Taiwan’s meaningful participation in the WHO.
