Taiwan announced its third round of mask donation on May 4, 2020, which will be total 7.07 million medical masks including Taiwan people voluntarily donates their rationed masks of 3.93 million. During this donation, besides 100K masks received by Washington State last week, 100K more masks arrived Idaho State on May 11, 2020. The mask donation is received by Idaho Office of Emergency Management (IOEM) and will be used for Idaho’s frontline responders of COVID-19.
On the occasion of Governor Brad Little’s proclaimation today, May 12 as Idaho’s Nurses Day, Taiwan’s mask donation is significant to Idaho health care workers. IOEM Director Brad Richy indicates that the mask donation not only benefits Idaho’s frontline responders, but also hugely helps Idaho’s medical stocks for their capability to allocate more resources for Idaho’s rural areas. Director Richy says the donation from our friend, Taiwan, greatly aids in our efforts to continue protecting the people of Idaho. Idaho State Representative Sue Chew and Ms. Yvonne Ketchum-Ward, CEO of Idaho Primary Care Association both witnesses IOEM received the donation.
This donation showcases the humanitarian assistance supported by Taiwanese people to tell the world “Taiwan can help, and Taiwan is helping!” Taiwan will continually work with the U.S. and European counties together to fight against the COVID-19. Taiwan is willing and able to contribute more to global public health. We again urge that Taiwan should not be excluded from the WHO and related meetings to enhance and benefits people all over the world.
