The 34th TCAAT (Taiwanese & Chinese American Athletic Tournament of San Francisco Bay) was held at Cupertino High School on 7/08/2018. There were about 112 different groups in attendance, with over 3000 people participating.
OCAC (Overseas Community Affairs Council) Minister Hsin-hsing Wu, Ph.D.; TECO (Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in San Francisco), Director-General Joseph Ma, Chairman of TCAAT Jenny Tan, California State Assembly Member Kansen Chu, Mayor of Cupertino Darcy Paul, Mayor of Fremont Lily Mei, Mayor of Saratoga Mary-Lynne Bernald, Santa Clara County Assistant Sheriff Rick Sung, School district council members, Overseas Chinese Affairs Commissioners….., approximately 100 VIP’s attended. Minister Wu Hsin-hsing encouraged the participants to do well and wished upon a successful tournament.
The ceremony opened with a Santa Clara County Police car, followed by two flags carried by the Scouts and FASCA, one for America, and one for the Republic of China. Following this were the diverse groups that attended, each displaying a special skill. Such as dancing, drumming, Chinese yo-yo’s, and a marching band.
There were a multitude of activities during this event. Not only was Track and Field, there was also tug of rope, a talent show, a piano playing contest, and an art show. Anyone who came to this festival was guaranteed to have a great time. All participants seemed to have a blast as they played and raced till the end.
