To celebrate the lunar Chinese New Year, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in San Francisco will co-organize with the San Francisco Public Library a screening of the award-winning Taiwanese film “Pakeriran” on January 25, 2020, at San Francisco Public Library, Main Library. It is free and open to the public.
We are also pleased to partner with the Association of Northern California Chinese Schools to provide fun activities, such as knotting, calligraphy, and shuttlecock-kicking.
Winner of the Gold Award at the 2018 WorldFest Houston International Film and Video Festival, Pakeriran is a story about an indigenous youth Futing returning to his tribe and discovering his identity. In this cross-genre family drama and romance film, Futing reconnects with his culture through participating in the annual Sacepo' (sea festival). However, Futing finds it more difficult than he had imagined to navigate his homecoming.
