On February 27, TECO Chief Bruce Fuh awarded four individuals for their bravery in helping to save the life of Professor Sylvia Hsu, a tourist from the Republic of China (Taiwan).
On January 18, Hsu sightseeing near Crissy Field and focused on taking pictures at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge, when she tripped and fell into the freezing water. Sibo Luo jumped into the bay upon realizing Hsu was drowning, with Aaron Shiansky and Adam Hanzalik quickly joining Luo to help keep her afloat. Jacob Shiansky and Jiaan “Justin” Gou also assisted from shore. Except forGou, all who took part in the rescue were present for the awarding of the plaques, with Hanzalik and Jacob Shiansky traveling from Washington, DC and South Carolina, respectively.
On behalf of the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), TECO Chief Bruce Fuh expressed his gratitude for their courageous act and awarded each a Certificate of Recognition for putting their life at risk to save another.
