Taiwan is actively committed to being a responsible partner in the international arena and to working alongside its allies to jointly realize the UN Sustainable Development Goals to contribute to a better world. However, since 2016 Taiwan was no longer invited as an observer to UN meetings because of pressures from Communist China. As our Foreign Minister Joseph Wu stated, “A truly inclusive UN would not leave anyone behind.”  Moreover, “these practices are unjust and discriminatory, and contravene the principle of universality upon which the UN was founded” and, ultimately, because “Taiwan can help.”
