Bishop John Lee Keh-mien, President of the Taiwan Bishops' Conference, together with Professor Chou Te-yu and his wife, Consultant Clare Yeh, members of the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life, visited the Vatican from October 7 to 15 to attend the conference marking the 10th anniversary of Pope Francis’ Apostolic Exhortation Amoris Laetitia, hosted by Pope Leo XIV.
The conference brought together 187 invited participants, including 111 presidents of episcopal conferences from around the world, among them Bishop Lee. Also invited were 11 couples representing five continents, including Professor Chou and Consultant Yeh from Taiwan.
In his address at the opening ceremony, Pope Leo XIV explained that the conference aimed to take a thoughtful look at the current situation of families on the 10th anniversary of the publication of Amoris Laetitia, inspire pastoral ministry, and help the Church discover new ways to proclaim the Gospel. The Pope also reaffirmed the Church’s unwavering care and concern for families.
During the conference, Bishop Lee, Professor Chou, and Consultant Yeh shared Taiwan's experiences and achievements in this field with participants from around the world. Our Embassy would also like to express its special appreciation to them for taking time out of their busy conference schedule to share their reflections and insights with us.
