Dr. the Hon. Ralph Gonsalves, Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Amb. Peter Sha-Li Lan co-hosted the Information Session/Consultation with Participating Businesses in the “Offering National Support for Internship Training and Employment (ON-SITE) programme” at the NIS conference room, Kingstown on 3rd March, 2023.
Hon. Camillo Gonsalves, Minister of Finance, Mr. Anthony Regisford, Executive Director of SVG Chamber of Industry & Commerce, colleagues from the Taiwan Embassy and Technical Mission, officials from the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning, and Information Technology, representatives of participating businesses and media also attended the function.
Amb. Lan in his remarks pointed out that the success of business growth and trade of Taiwan was solely based on the solid and strong public and private partnership, and therefore when SVG government came up with the idea of ON-SITE programme one year ago, the Embassy responded immediately and promised to contribute to the programme, with the aim of encouraging economic growth, employment rate, and the growth of local businesses.
In his remarks, Premier Gonsalves elaborated the close relationship between Taiwan and SVG. In addition to 189 internships attributed to the ON-SITE programme, Taiwan had also funded the Supportive Education and Training Programme (SET) and the Youth Employment Service Programme (YES), which would collectively provide more than 1,000 internships for 2023, which sets a record in the history of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.(E)
