Ambassador Fiona Huei-Chun Fan attended the Achievements Ceremony of the Public Health Emergency Response System Enhancement Project on September 5, 2025 along with Minister of Health Hon. St. Clair Prince.
Ambassador Fan expressed her appreciation to the dedicated teams and stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health, the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO), the RSVG Police Force, the TaiwanICDF, and Mackay Memorial Hospital, for their hard work and commitment. She emphasized that the initiative is aimed at strengthening SVG’ capacity for emergency medical response and public health preparedness. Through this program, more than 500 professionals, including police officers, firefighters, and medical personnel, have received training, significantly enhancing the country’s ability to respond to emergencies. Thanks to these efforts, SVG is now well prepared to face natural disasters and to successfully host major international events like the CELAC Summit and the Cricket World Cup.
Ambassador Fan also thanked SVG for supporting Taiwan’s campaign for participation in international organizations, noting Minister St. Clair Prince’s impassioned call for Taiwan’s inclusion during the 78th World Health Assembly (WHA) this May was significantly impactful.
Minister Prince thanked Taiwan for its consistent support of SVG’s development, citing landmark projects such as the construction of Arnos Vale Acute Care Hospital (AVACH), as well as contributions to agriculture, education, and disaster relief during hurricanes and volcanic eruptions. He underscored that Taiwan is SVG’s reliable partner and emphasized tangible achievements, including primary and emergency care training, specialized capacity-building programs, and early warning systems, noting that SVG is now better prepared to face future challenges.
Through its public health project, Taiwan has shared valuable experience and expertise in emergency medical care and infectious disease prevention, helping to strengthen SVG’ emergency response system. These efforts align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, advancing the well-being of the people and safeguarding the health of future generations.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Fan handed over an ambulance, offered by the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), along with a 40-foot container of medical supplies, provided by the Cao Zhong Zhi Foundation, including 300 wheelchairs, 80 walkers, 100 canes, 80 commode chairs, and an ambulance, to Minister of Health Hon. St. Clair Prince.
Taiwan has always believed in the power of partnership to drive development. As Ambassador Fan concluded in her remarks, the medical cooperation will help achieve a shared vision of a healthier, happier, and more prosperous future for both nations.
