Grateful Hearts, Resilient Spirits: Giving Thanks Amidst the Flames

Questelles Government School held a Thanksgiving Assembly on 5th January 2026, aiming to express profound gratitude for no injuries in the recent school fire. Ambassador Fiona Huei-Chun Fan was deeply touched to be invited to the Assembly, hosted by Head Teacher Donette Ferdinand and Hon. Phillip Jackson, Minister of Education, together with Hon. Nigel Stephenson, Minister of Transport, Hon. Kishore Shallow, Minister of Tourism.

The Assembly took place at the very first day of the new school term. All students of the school attended in an uplifted mood, demonstrating great resilience and unity despite the fire. Government's swift response and community's solidarity showcase collective strength, making all of this possible. Taiwan and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines enjoyed an enduring and true friendship, which would be revealed in times of adversity.

On behalf of government and people of Republic of China (Taiwan), Ambassador Fan contributed EC$10,000 to the School, to support relief efforts, showing Taiwan’s care, friendship, and unwavering commitment to standing together with the people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
