
Amb. Ger and Minister Gonsalves exchange the signed ICT agreement
A Signing Ceremony for the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Cooperation in Information and Communication Technology and Electronic Document and Records Management System (EDRMS) Project were held on 7th June 2016.
Hon. Camillo Gonslaves, Minister of Economic Planning, Sustainable Development, Industry, Information and Labour, and Ambassador Baushuan Ger of the Republic of China (Taiwan) signed both the Agreement and the Project on behalf of the two governments.
To launch the new phase of cooperation on ICT, the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) has earmarked a total budget of US$ 1.85 million (EC$4.97 million) for the new project.
The new project aims to build a digitized document interchange and management system among governmental agencies at different levels. Once built, it will increase efficiency and effectiveness, reduce redundancy and strengthen security on governmental document processing and transmission.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance and the Service Commission Department will be the three pilot agencies to join the initiative. An electronic document management system, an information security management mechanism, an electronic document processing system and a certificate registration management system will be established for all participating agencies.
