American Society of International Law (ASIL) informed us that Ambassador LO’s book “Taiwan and International Human Rights: A Story of Transformation” has received its 2020 Certificate of Merit in a Specialized Area of International Law.
Ambassador LO said that this award is of great significance to Taiwan. First, the performance of Taiwan’s human rights has been seen by the international society. Although we couldn't participat in the treaties of human rights, Taiwan has conscientiously implemented human rights through the interpretation from Justices of Constitutional Court, legislative process, and administrative measures.
Quote from ASIL, “This edited volume addresses a fascinating, challenging, and understudied story in international human rights law – how Taiwan, whose very status as a party to human rights treaties remains contested, engages with and internalizes human rights into domestic laws and practices.”
