Steven, Yi-Min Lin
Representative, Taipei Trade Office in Nigeria
Representative Steven Yi-Min Lin is the current Representative of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Representative Lin received his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science (International Relations) from National Taiwan University and earned a Master of Public Administration from Michigan State University in the United States. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in 1995, after passing the National Foreign Service Examination in 1994.
With a distinguished diplomatic career spanning over three decades, Representative Lin has held a wide range of assignments at MOFA headquarters and overseas missions. His previous postings include Third Secretary at the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Grenada, Assistant Director of the Political Division at the Taipei Representative Office in the United Kingdom, Director of the Administrative Division of the Coordination Council for North American Affairs in Taipei, Director of the Administrative Division at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Chicago, Deputy Director-General of the Department of General Affairs at MOFA, and Deputy Representative at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam. His diplomatic service across the Caribbean, Europe, North America, Southeast Asia, and now Africa has provided him with extensive experience in diplomacy, public administration, consular affairs, public diplomacy, and international cooperation.
In early August 2026, Representative Lin assumed his current post as Taiwan’s Representative to the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He is committed to strengthening the substantive partnership between Taiwan and Nigeria, as well as other West African nations, by promoting cooperation in trade and investment, agriculture, healthcare, education, science and technology, capacity building, and people-to-people exchanges.
Representative Lin is married to Heather, and they have two children: a daughter, Mei Lin, and a son, Sam Lin. Outside his official duties, he enjoys reading, traveling, and learning about different cultures. He believes that professionalism, integrity, mutual trust, and sincere friendship are the cornerstones of successful diplomacy, and he remains dedicated to advancing Taiwan’s international engagement and fostering lasting partnerships worldwide.
