Polish Government Anouncement (in English)
The Polish government announced on September 4th , 2021 that it handed over 400 000 vaccines to Taiwan to help fight the COVID-19 epidemic. The Taipei Representative Office in Poland expresses its sincere gratitude for the precious friendship and generosity of the Polish government and people and pays tribute to the Polish government's leadership in international cooperation in the fight against the pandemic.
Taiwan’s donation of one million surgical masks and medical protective equipment to help Poland fight the epidemic in the early stage of the COVID-19 last year, together with the vaccine donation from Poland, shows once again how positive contributions to the global effort against the pandemic produce a virtuous cycle. This kind gesture is particularly precious when partner democracies are supporting each other to actively fight the pandemic worldwide. Taiwan and Poland will join hands to overcome the pandemic and build back better together.
Taiwan and Poland have similar historical backgrounds and share the universal values of freedom, democracy, and human rights. Over the years, both countries have made substantial progress in cooperation in various fields such as economy and trade, science and higher education, parliamentary visits, and people-to-people exchanges. Both have enjoyed the profound friendship and will continue to deepen cooperation and exchanges in the future.
"A friend in need is a friend indeed" is the best portrayal of Taiwan and Poland's mutual assistance in fighting the pandemic. We express our sincere gratitude to the Polish administration and friends of the Parliament for their timely assistance and spirit of solidarity at a time when Taiwan is facing a shortage of vaccines.
