Director Laha Mebow/Chen Jie-Yao’s film “Hang in There, Kids!” will be featured in the Washington, DC International Film Festival on April 22nd and 29th 2017. Taiwan Academy of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States (TECRO) cordially invites filmgoers to take a special journey to meet a remote Taiwanese tribe.
“Hang in There, Kids!” depicts the lives of three indigenous children who are optimistic, energetic and playful while facing different family issues. Despite their tough environment, materially as well as spiritually, the three kids live under the positive influence of their handicapped after-school teacher who showers them with love and warmth.
The movie has won numerous awards and was nominated to be Taiwan’s entry to compete for the best foreign language film in the 2017 Oscars. The screening is part of the Washington, DC International Film Festival/Filmfest DC.
