On March 12, Director General Steven Tai and Deputy Director Cynthia Hung attended the Georgia Minority Business Awards 18th annual reception and dinner. DG Tai greeted attendants with remarks praising the Georgia Minority Business Awards and Atlanta Business Journal Magazine for fostering an atmosphere in which multi-cultural communities can achieve collective success.
This year's awards fell into fifteen categories covering various aspects of business and community service. A Taiwanese American, Michael Day, was one of this year's award recipients. In 1996 Mr. Day started his company, Atlanta DTH, Inc. (ADTH), which transmits satellite signals for religious, ethnic and other communities. ADTH serves a wide customer base in Europe, Central and Latin America, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
Many distinguished guests attended the event, including Miguel Southwell, General Manager of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Mayor Jack Longino, City of College Park, and Ceasar Mitchell, Atlanta City Council President.
