Service Areas: Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles (TECO-LA) is only authorized to authenticate documents that have been issued within our service areas, covering Southern California ( Los Angeles County, San Diego County, Orange County, Riverside County, San Bernardino County, Kern County, Ventura County, Santa Barbara County, San Luis Obispo County and Imperial County), Arizona and New Mexico. **TECO-LA cannot authenticate the documents issued from the Federal Government of the United States, please contact the Taipei Economic Representative Office in the United States for authentication information.
Requirements for Authentication Application of Birth Certificate
Applicants'(the child and the parents) VALID passports or photo ID cards.
If the child is under 7 and has not applied a passport, his/her passport/ID can be waived.
If apply by mail or by an agent, a photocopy of the passport or ID notarized by a notary public can be accepted. If it's a R.O.C.(Taiwan) passport, its photocopy can be accepted without notarization.
The document intends to be authenticated:
The original or the certified copy of the birth certificate which was issued by the County/the State. Please apply a complete form (long form), not an extract or a short form.
Please make sure that the child's and the parents' (1) English name (2) date of birth (3) place of birth showing on the birth certificate are all the same as their passport information
If apply by an agent, (1)a notarized Letter of Authorization prepared by the applicant and (2)the agent's photo I.D. are required.
Authentication Fee: $15 for each
