Procedures and Requirements
1. Service Areas: Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles (TECO-LA) is only authorized to authenticate documents issued within the following service areas: Southern California ( Los Angeles County, San Diego County, Orange County, Riverside County, San Bernardino County, Kern County, Ventura County, Santa Barbara County, San Luis Obispo County and Imperial County), Arizona and New Mexico.
2.Counter Application:

- 1:15 pm to 3:45 pm open for walk-in (limit 35 persons)
3. Mail-in Application: Please sign 郵寄具結書Mail Delivery Agreement(含須知)
for application by mail (see our address on the bottom), please attach a notarized copy of your photo ID as proof of your identity. However, a copy of Republic of China Passport or Taiwan ID Card is not required to be notarized if the applicant is a Taiwanese citizen. Prior to mailing your documents to TECO-LA, you may contact Consular Division of TECO-LA staff at +1 213-389-1215 for guidance and further information. *Remember to attach a postage paid return envelop and put inside the mail envelope if you're unavailable to come and pick up the passport at our office. We only accept USPS returns, and $31 Priority Express Mail is required.
4. Apply by Agents-Applicant may assign an agent to deliver the required documents to our office. Agent is required to present his/her valid photo ID (e.g. driver license, passport, or naturalization certificate) along with an authorization letter notarized by notary public from the applicant.
5. Documents: An original or certified copy of Diploma, Transcript,... academic record.
6. A Completed Application Form for Authentication (pdf)
7. An original and a copy of valid photo ID (Passport or Driver’s License). The original ID will be returned after verification.
1) Application Fee: $15.00 per document.
2) If transcript authentication is needed, please notify the issuing school deliver a copy of transcript DIRECTLY to TECO-LA.
8. For diploma authentication:
(1) Provide the original or a notarized copy of diploma (See Note 1).
(2) For verification purposes, you MUST either (A) apply for a verification code from the National Student Clearinghouse and provide us the email address and transaction ID; (B) apply for a copy of transcript sent DIRECTLY from school to TECO-LA.
**TECO-LA will need to put the authentication application on hold until receipt of the transcript from the issuing school. As TECO-LA has no control over the issuing school issuing the transcript in a timely fashion, applicants are advised to contact the issuing school in person to this purpose in order to avoid further delay.
9. Methods of Payment-Cash, money order, or cashier's check. Payable to : "TECO". *Personal check and credit card will not be accepted.
Note 1. Starting from April 16, 2012, if applicants could manage to submit for authentication to TECO-LA only copies of diploma, these copies need to be notarized by a local notary public (if applicants reside in Southern California, Arizona or New Mexico) or by the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Taiwan (if applicants reside in Taiwan) .
